Wat Mahawan - Lanna & Burmese style temple
The Wat Mahawan is a very attractive temple just outside the old walled town. It houses several beautiful Lanna style halls and a Burmese style chedi.
Wat Mahawan or at that time called Wat Mahawaram, built around 1,200 in the Buddhist century.

Wat Mahawan was built in the 1870s and is a small temple on the Tha Phae Road near the gate.
This is one of those smaller, unassuming temples that has a quiet serenity to it. There were no tourists inside, so we were able to wander around at a leisurely pace and really feel the peacefulness.
