“There is a garden in her eyes where roses and white lilies flow.” If you are considering coming to Chiang Mai during the winter months, the Flower Festival is a great excuse for a visit. This year, the 46th Chiang Mai Flower Festival takes place from Friday, February 3rd, 2023 till Sunday, February 5th, 2023.
Where is the Chiang Mai Flower Festival? The main event is centred around Buak Hat Park in the south-west corner of the Old Town area of Chiang Mai. This is where the floats are parked up and displayed once the street parade has finished.
In ancient times, Chiang Mai was called the "rose of the north" of Thailand. Locals believe it is the most beautiful city in the northern part of the country. Its valleys and hills are a natural habitat for many tropical flowers. Most of them bloom in January and February, contributing to the celebration at this time.
The main event of the festival is its street parade. The parade takes place on Saturday the 4th of February 2023 and starts off around 9 am. It is quite a slow procession, with the parade regularly pausing.
Preparation. The ratchaphruek (Cassia fistula), or golden shower tree, is the de facto national flower of Thailand.
