Wat Phra Singh is a Buddhist temple in Chiang Mai, northern Thailand. King Ananda Mahidol, bestowed upon it the status of Royal temple of the first grade in 1935.


Very impressive collection of Temple buildings set in tranquil grounds. Has to be one of the best Temples in the Old City. Magnificent large Gold Stupa. There are little gems of Buddhist teaching pinned to trees in the grounds. In the main building a group of monks were gathered sitting in a line and chanting. People come here to make merit and light candles.


This temple in Chiang Mai, which is also the most famous in the city, is located in the heart of the city center and is absolutely beautiful to visit.
Lanterns are hung in a temple at the back of the main one and seem to fly in the sky. It's all the more remarkable to admire during a sunrise or sunset.
It's really worthwhile to stop and stroll around the garden, and simply take your time.









Chang Mai's greatest temple. Home to the city's most revered Buddha image, the Lion Buddha. If you only have the energy for two or three wats, start here. I loved the murals, the chanting and all the buildings you can poke into here.


Extraordinary Buddhist temple complex open to visitors, but closes around 6pm. Give yourself around two hours to explore the complex, as there is so much to see and learn! The massive gold Buddha in the assembly hall is beautifully captivating. We arrived around 4:30pm and the monks were chanting in the main assembly hall. It was a spiritually moving experience to be in their presence at this moment.

There is also a library that holds some of the ancient scriptures, and one of the halls has the Phra Sing Buddha surrounded by frescoed walls with images from the Jataka tales, ancient tales of Buddhas lives and transformations.
We highly recommend coming to this Wat during your trip to Chiang Mai!

There are also local people that welcome you at the entrance giving suggestions and recommendations 🙂
P.s. don't be scared by the Monk statuses inside the main pagoda 🙀 they look so real!

Wat Umong is a 700-year-old Buddhist temple in Chiang Mai, Thailand. It should not be confused with the temple with a similar name within the old city moat of Chiang Mai, whose complete name is "Wat Umong Maha Thera Chan".

Worth the trip out of Chiang Mai to visit this Temple Complex. It's a nice change from the city Temples. We came here on our scooter - an easy ride.
There's quite a lot to see. The tunnels are particularly interesting.
Wear good footwear - the ground can be quite slippery in places.
We only had an hour to look around so weren't able to see it all. Give yourself a couple of hours.



This place typifies why I love about the "out of city" temples. They incorporate nature as an integral part of the environment and you get a totally different and more peaceful experience experience. This is spread out over a large area and has an unusual feature with tunnels running under the Pagoda.



Love this temple, lots of wisdom sign that remind your thoughts and how to quality spend life in single day. Peaceful and easy to go, close to city you can take grab car and go there, very convenience.
We have been there on weekdays, not too much visitors.
Mindfulness, silence and good for your soul.


A beautiful temple with a small cave or a large tunnel that you can meditate in. It also has a museum of relics and inspired art. I think you can also come here if you want to be a monk. This place is huge to walk around.


A unique temple complex on the hillside to the west of Chiang Mai city, well worth a visit.
It features a number of spotless tunnels and statues in the centre of the grounds, plus a number of interesting statues, exhibitions and a large stupa within the grounds.


There are a number of paths to follow and a large lake with an island and bridges. A large number of turtles can be seen here.
